Chapter 19: This Stupid Game Hurt my Brain
Chapter 19: This Stupid Game Hurt my Brain
Before we begin, I'm wondering how do you guys feel seeing Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand as Yuna's trump card, like Yugi with dark magician and Kaiba with BEWD? I will implement other decks in this story but Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand will be her main.
[Yuna POV]
So they planned to target Joey, huh? Even if I don't like being in the center of attention, focus on me a little too! I clicked my teeth with frustration, I glanced at Joey, and he seemed disturbed by their cowardly strategy.
"Don't look down on me!" Joey angrily slammed the table with his hands.
Keith smirked and gestured annoyingly for me to make my move. I pouted and drew a card: "I activate Pot of Greed and draw two more cards from my deck!"
I glanced at my replenished hand and nodded: "I will summon Guardian of Felgrand!"
A large green-haired man in silver armor was summoned to the field. The knight smiled and crossed his arms, standing tall and rigid like a mountain.
[Guardian of Felgrand: Attack: 500, Defense: 500]
"With Guardian of Felgrand's ability, I can equip one level 7 or 8 dragon monster in my graveyard to this card, and Guardian of Felgrand will gain stats to half of the monster that will be equipped! The one I choose is Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand!"
Guardian of Felgrand pointed his weapon in the sky, and a beam shot down from heaven and was enveloped by the blinding light. Once the shimmer faded, a mirage of a large dragon stood behind the Guardian of Felgrand, like a guardian angel protecting its important person.
[Guardian of Felgrand: Attack: 500 -> 1900, Defense: 500 -> 1900]
"Then I will activate Ruins of the Divine Dragon Lord's ability. I can tribute a card on the field and special summon a token onto the field; the one I choose is Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand!" The dragon behind Guardian of Felgrand transformed into a small orb of light and gently floated beside my monsters. By doing so, the Guardian of Felgrand loses his power and returns to its original strength.
[Dragon Lord Token: Attack: o, Defense: 0]
[Guardian of Felgrand: Attack: 1900 -> 500, Defense: 1900 -> 500]
You may wonder, what was the point of going through all this? Ku ku ku, well, let me indulge in this grand scheme of mine!
"Then Guardian of Felgrand's second ability will be set in motion! I can tribute two monsters, including this card, and special summon one level seven or eight dragons back from my grave!"
The token and Guardian of Felgrand burst into a flurry of particles: "Rise again, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand!" The bright particles slowly expanded and formed a large shape. A ferocious golden dragon occupied my field, and its roar shook the entire forest.
"Woah..." I heard Joey gasping with awe: "That's crazy. No matter how many times I see it..." [Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand: Attack: 2800, Defense: 2800]
"With Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand's ability, I can banish one monster on the field and gain 100x attack and defense equal to the number of levels from the monster! The one I choose is Mechanicalchaser!"
Keith's Mechanicalchaser went limp and dropped to the floor. The ground opened up and engulfed the monster as it was dragged underground.
[Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand: Attack: 2800 -> 3200, Defense: 2800 -> 3200]
"Now attack Snake Hair!" I ordered, and the dragon charged.
No matter how sharp the Snake Hair's sword was, it couldn't compete with Felgrand's claws and was easily devoured.
[Bonz: 2000 LP -> 1000 LP]
Hmph, how do you guys like that? If you guys target Joey, then I will target you, Bonz! I glared at the zombie child, and he flinched nervously. I faced Keith, and he was desperately suppressing his anger.
Phew, seeing his angry face made me feel a little better: "Your move," I urged.
In a single turn, I managed to destroy all the monsters on their side, so it must have landed a great impact on their psyche. However, I couldn't afford to relax. Who knew what else they could pull out of their sleeves?
Keith frowned and drew a card: "I will call upon Mighty Guard." He calmly summoned a green cyborg soldier that was a mix between a beefy man and a machine. The soldier unleashed a war cry and punched the air.
[Mighty Guard: Attack: 500, Defense: 1200]
"Now I will attack Machine Duplication, and I can choose a machine monster with 500 or fewer attacks and special summon two of the same monster from my deck," Keith explained.
Two extra Mighty Guards were summoned, and the three monsters nodded at each other like comrades in arms. When Keith ended his turn carefreely, I felt nervous, knowing that Keith summoned three monsters in one go. It never meant something good.
I glanced at Joey worriedly: "Be careful..."
Joet gulped and quietly stared at his hand. I'm glad he's taking my advice to heart and thinking about his move instead of charging in like a madman.
"I will set a card face down and summon Tiger Axe." He said while a huge anthropomorphic tiger wearing gladiator armor and holding a twin-headed battle axe rose to the ground.
[Tiger Axe: Attack: 1300, Defense: 1100]
Joey: "Now attack the Mighty Guard!"
Tiger Axe rushes towards his foe. The monster raises his axe and leaps into the group of soldiers. The monster struck down, and the blade easily pierced the armor and killed one of
the soldiers.
[Keith: 2000 LP -> 1200 LP]
Alright, this was a good start, we have already brought both of them to low health, and if we play this successfully, we can win. Strangely, Keith wasn't bothered by the massive drop in life points as he turned to Joey.
"You shouldn't have attacked me." He warned.
"Huh, what does that suppose to mean?!" Joey grumbled, and Keith shrugged, "I will end my
turn." He said cautiously.
When it was Bonz's move, Keith said threateningly, "Follow the plan."
Bonz nodded: "I will tribute the two Mighty Guards on Keith's field and summon Zoa!"
A blue-skinned demon appeared, with a humanoid face with a horn, hunched back, razor- sharp claws, and two pairs of red fins behind its head.
[Zoa: 2600, 1900]
Bonz: "Now attack the Tiger Axe!"
"Not so fast!" Joey hurriedly shouted: "I activated my trap card, Kunai, with chain and gave Tiger Axe 500 attack and forced Zoa into a defense position!"
[Tiger Axe: Attack: 1800, Defense: 1100]
Tiger Axe's weapon was replaced with a metal kunai attached to a chain. The tiger hurled the weapon and caught Zoa. The fiend thrashed but was eventually forced to return to Bonz's side with a disgruntled expression.
"Phew, that was close!" Joey exclaimed and wiped the sweat off his forehead.
I sighed with relief; the good old Kunai with Chain once again saved the day. Somewhere in
the back of my mind, I thought things would turn for the worse. However, the best outcome
has occurred, and we can now begin our counterattack!
Bonz frowned when things didn't go as planned: "I will set a card and end my turn."
"Tsk," Keith scowled: "Useless brat..."
I drew a card and sighed; another monster card? Am I bricking that badly? Even if my deck has many effect cards, it seems like I still couldn't escape the fate of a terrible draw.
Sorry, Joey, I'm the useless one now...
"I will turn Dragon Knight of Creation into Defense Position," I said as the knight stabbed his sword into the ground and knelt beside the statue.
"I'm also setting a monster face down and entering my attack phase!" I announced: "Then Divine Dragon Lord! Destroy Zoa this instance!"
"Not so fast!" Keith shouted, "I activate Magic Metal Force and use it on Zoa!"
A blinding light emerged from Keith's set card and engulfed Bonz's Zoa. The monster's skin turned metallic as machine and bolts replaced its flesh: "With Magic Metal Force, I can turn monsters into a machine typing! Now Zoa has become Metal Zoa!"
[Metal Zoa: Attack: 3000, Defense: 2300]
Huh, but what's the point? Metal Zoa was still weaker than Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand, right? Metal Zoa will perish like normal, right? Bonz will lose his life points, right? Definitely not something extremely dumb that I have missed that would stop me, right? RIGHT? Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand puffed its chest and unleashed a stream of orange flames on Machine Zoa, covering the field into a sea of fire. When the flames died down, to my shock, Metal Zoa remained on the field, and Bonz's life points hadn't changed.
OI OI OI, what this's They didn't even activate a trap card, and my dragon definitely attacked! Excuse me; I call the referee!
"Suprised, are you?" Keith sneered: "With Magic Metal Force's effect, Metal Zoa won't be
affected by non-physical attacks!"
What...
Non-physical attacks?
W...WHAT THE *!@#$!?
Keith clutched his stomach in laughter, and I felt my anger rising.
EXCUSE ME?!
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!
NON-PHYSICAL ATTACKS?
HOW DO I FIGHT THAT, THEN??? TAKAHASHI-SAN, EXPLAIN!!!
[A/N: Kazuki Takahashi is the creator of Yugioh]
"Such a powerful effect..." Joey muttered in admiration.
My eye twitched, and I felt that I needed to check my teammate's brain for a second.
WHAT KIND OF BULL!@*#U WAS THAT???
HEY DIVINE DRAGON LORD, YA BIG GOOF.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF??
My teeth made a grinding sound as I glared at my monster. I swore the dragon was purposely
avoiding my gaze, and it seemed to be saying: "You're the one that ordered me to attack, but
you never specified how to attack..."
"I..... I end my turn..."
I slumped my shoulders and leaned on the podium. Hey Joey, stop staring at me with thatNôv(el)B\\jnn
pitying look. It hurts...
Keith chuckled: "I use Pot of Greed and draw two cards."
"Then I'm activating Call of the Haunted and summoning Snake Hair." Bonz suddenly said.
Bandit Keith nodded with a feral smile: "Then I will tribute Snake Hair and set a monster face down. I'm ending my turn."
"Sano-san, get a hold of yourself!" Joey encouraged from a distance: "This wasn't over yet."
I sighed, don't say that. It makes people think that I'm giving up. Deciding that it's useless to dwell on that garbage effect, I straightened my back and answered: "We should play it safe;
we don't know the identity of Keith's monster, and Metal Zoa was way stronger than your monsters," I suggested.
"I see," Joey muttered thoughtfully: "Then I will set Tiger Axe into Defense Position. Joey held a card and glimpsed at me; grasping his intention, I nodded.
Joey smiled and tributed my face-down fodder before setting a monster of his own. It was a
good idea as my Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand was currently protecting me, so it was smart to use my other monsters for tributes.
"I'm setting a card face down and end my turn," Joey said and gave me a thumbs up.
My sigh became even louder. Where did that faith even come from? Geez... I should have brought some aspirin, and I can already feel the headache setting in...
I hope you enjoy! Sorry for the cliff, the battle took way longer than I have expected, I will try
and release part 2 this week.
