Amon let out a sharp yawn, pushing his head into his arms in an attempt to drift off to sleep.
Unfortunately, he couldn't focus on his sleep for long as the teacher in front of him on the podium spoke up.
"Okay, we will end the class here. Since there are 2 days left before the long-awaited Cultural Festival, I won't give you guys any work or assignments for the next week.
You can enjoy it to your fullest and have fun with your family and friends. Though, I would still implore you guys to at least give a glance at your studies."
At the mention of 'Cultural Festival', Amon's ears perked up and he looked up.
"That's all I have to say. Enjoy this small weekend of yours before the festival starts and hopefully, I'll be able to meet you all at the festival." The man gave the class a simple smile. Grabbing his things, he walked out of the class as the class bid him farewell.
Amon's gaze was fixated on his departing back.
Wearing a formal brown suit with square shaped glasses on his black eyes, the man gave off a simple and office-like vibe.
His black hair was also neatly combed.
The man's name was Mark Florip, a substitute teacher to their class for the time being.
Ever since Athena's disappearance to the capital, he had been given charge of the class.
Fortunately, Amon felt no bad vibes or malicious intentions from him, nor did he remember him having any importance to the plot.
As he moved out of the class and out of Amon's view, the latter's focus drifted off to the second most important matter.
The Cultural Festival.
A month had passed since he had reconciled with Katherine and that incident.
In that time, a lot of things had changed.
The first development that came into play was the extension of the Cultural Festival. Rather than it being in one and a half weeks, the new principal pushed it till a month later. Yes, temporarily, until there was a decision to Arthur's case, the Imperiac had appointed a new principal to the academy since Athena refused to come back until Arthur was freed.
Amon couldn't blame her. Even though Arthur was the strongest and there was no chance the Imperiac would kill him, in that jail cell alone, he was powerless.
In his weakest, anyone could kill him. And being at the top of the hierarchy, one naturally had a lot of enemies.
Athena could never leave him alone and hand him over to Imperiac and this was a decision that Amon found himself respecting.
Despite how much it had burdened Amelia.
But fortunately, the new director's replacement and the extension of the festival, allowed her to take a breather as well.
The current principal of the academy was Akane Blackheart, the Matriarch of the Blackhearts- the highest ranked Marquessal family of the Kingdom, also thought to be the 5th Ducal family in the upcoming years.
It was all because of a sole woman, the head of the family, Akane Blackheart.
And it was solely for two reasons.
First, was her rank. Akane Blackheart was one of only two 9th Order Clovists in the Kingdom, alongside Athena.
But unlike Athena, who had the potential to go to the 10th Order, Akane's talent was restricted to the 9th Order.
A talent she had already reached the limits of.
And second, was her unique element.
At first glance, it was Shadow, but unlike Arthur's Shadow element, Akane's element was much more stronger and diverse.
Her control wasn't just restricted to shadows, it extended to every place with the absence of light.
She was so proficient with her element to the point that she was also appointed as the Black Seraph-a rank or title solely appointed to her by the Imperiac for overseeing the Black Tear.
She was the biggest factor that contributed to the halt of the Black Tear's growth, being able to even control the darkness and shadows that lurked within it.
Because of such power and uniqueness of her element, the Imperiac had chosen to give it a separate name other than Shadow.
They named it, Darkness, an element capable of controlling both Darkness and Shadow.
Which was also why people called Arthur as the sole person with the Shadow affinity, because Akane was different from him.
But because of this, there was often a debate from a smaller side of the public that Akane was stronger than Arthur.
It made sense since Arthur was only able to control Shadows while Akane could do much
more.
However, it didn't take long for them to be answered that even though elemental wise she was stronger than him.
Her lack of talent and lower rank than him pushed him above her by a tiny margin, the same case for Athena.
Moving back to the main situation, Amon tried to remember anything about Akane Blackheart.
Despite being such an important and high ranked figure, she had never made her appearance in the novel.
Aside from a few mentions and slight glimpses from afar on the battlefield, Michael had no encounter with her.
Because of that Amon knew nothing about her, not even her appearance.
Though, she was rumored to be the most beautiful person in the Kingdom, even above
Athena.
Of course, Amon couldn't say it without any confirmation, especially when he found Katherine and Amelia to be more beautiful.
Since her appointment here a month ago, she had made no appearance to the public as well.
It was always said she was a busy person with the Black Tear and her own family so it made
sense.
Sighing, Amon focused his attention back to the Festival now.
It would start on Monday and last for the whole upcoming week.
It was Friday today so he still had 2 days to prepare for it.
But for Amon, he was fucked even in these 2 days.
It was because of the midterms a month ago.
Of course because of the incident, the battle royale and the catacombs exploration had been
canceled.
They wouldn't be counted in the results, so it had been announced.
After that, because of this whole principal and administrative issues, it had taken a while for
them to compile all the results.
And now, they are finally done.
The results were going to be announced tomorrow, at night alongside a party for the
midterms celebration and also as a prequel opening to the festival.
And of course, Amon had to go there with everyone for the results.
Especially, since being aware of his efforts, he knew his rank placement. There was not a
single doubt in his mind.
No.
There was not a single doubt in everyone's mind for his rank placement.
