Chapter 309. Jealousy I

Dragon King's Harem Chapter 309. Jealousy I

I navigated the bustling castle corridors, weaving through the usual crowd of guards and servants, until I spotted Evelina in the grand palace hall. She was walking with Eir, their conversation casual but with just enough formality to remind anyone watching who they were—Eir, the ever-loyal guard, and Evelina, the king’s wife.

Even though their chat seemed relaxed, the professional distance between them was obvious. Eir never overstepped, and Evelina carried herself of someone in her position. It was the kind of boundary that spoke volumes without a single word.

The palace hall itself wasn’t exactly private. Healer guards were stationed strategically around the pillars, their watchful eyes scanning the area. The place practically radiated a sense of security, every corner carefully monitored.

Once I got closer to Evelina and Eir, ready to join them, something caught my eye. High up on one of the pillars, coiled around like some overgrown decoration, was none other than Prince Naganthor. His long, sinuous body was wrapped securely around the stone, his sharp gaze locked on Evelina like a hawk sizing up its prey.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

My brow immediately furrowed. He was spying on my wife—no doubt about it. And if Eir hadn’t been by her side, I wouldn’t have been surprised if he’d slithered right over to her. The thought alone made my blood boil. Letting out a slow, steady exhale, I activated my skill. 'Shadow Walk'.

In an instant, I melted into the shadows and reappeared right next to Naganthor, my wings unfurling as I hovered silently in the air.

“Good evening, Naganthor,” I said coldly, my tone carrying all the disapproval I felt. My wings stretched out fully, not just for show but as a reminder of who he was dealing with.

I fixed him with a hard, unblinking stare. “Mind explaining why you’re watching my wife so closely?” I asked, my voice sharp and demanding. I wasn’t in the mood for his cryptic nonsense, and my patience was already wearing thin.

Naganthor’s reaction was almost comical. His usual composure shattered, replaced by a look of pure shock. His face went pale, and he stammered like a guilty child caught red-handed. “Y-Your Majesty,” he sputtered, his voice shaky. “Forgive me for my… impudence.”

I wasn’t about to let him off that easily. “Explain yourself,” I demanded, my tone as icy as my stare. His behavior needed answers, and I wasn’t going anywhere until I got them.

Instead of a direct reply, Naganthor glanced around nervously, clearly looking for a way out of this uncomfortable situation. “May we go down first?” he asked, practically pleading. His embarrassment was written all over him, and he knew being caught like this wasn’t a good look for a prince.

I let out a low, unimpressed sigh. “Fine. You first,” I said, gesturing for him to lead the way. I wasn’t going to make this easy for him, but I also wasn’t about to cause a scene in front of the guards.

Naganthor bowed slightly, his movements awkward and rushed. His slick, serpent-like body uncoiled from the pillar as he slithered gracefully down, the silence around us amplifying the awkwardness of it all. His eyes briefly met mine, filled with a mix of embarrassment and unease, before he quickly looked away. Yeah, this incident was definitely going to be the talk of the palace, and I wouldn’t be surprised if word reached Elixar sooner rather than later.

The healer guards parted slightly to let Naganthor pass. Their expressions ranged from wary to outright disapproving. They didn’t need to say anything; their looks alone spoke volumes. They were shocked the prince was up there.

Before anyone could question him, Naganthor spoke up. “I’ll convey my apologies to the king,” he said quickly, clearly trying to get ahead of the fallout. His tone was almost desperate, like he knew he had to fix this mess fast.

I folded my wings and floated down after him, my mind racing.
