Rise of the Blood Sovereign

Chapter 103 The Following Ten Days

103  The Following Ten Days

"You want us to form an organization and then swallow up the small gangs around us?" Olman asked with suspicion as he stared at Lyle with a serious face.

"Yes, but not those that are truly weak, only the gangs and smaller organizations that are led by one or two Bronze Knights will be our targets, also, we need to make sure they are not backed by anyone stronger than us."

"Taking down their leaders and forcing the others to submit, it's definitely possible, but it won't lead to a good outcome, the men will be restless and won't care for us."

"Just leave that to me, I have a way to make them be 'compliant'," Lyle said as Olman sighed before nodding his head.

The following couple of days were uneventful. Lyle took Adam and the others on multiple trips outside so that they could fight monsters and increase their strength, something that had become quite common in the city as most of the adventurers and mercenaries had started doing the same.

Of course, when it came to how efficient they were, there were very few that could match Lyle and the other three. Their equipment was top-notch for their current selves and Lyle was someone that had a plethora of experience.

The other three were gaining experience when it came to fighting as their connection with Lyle allowed them to pick up some things from him via the invisible link they all shared. Teamwork was something that Lyle thought they would have trouble with, but to his surprise, after only two days, they were all in sync with each other and it seemed like they could almost read each other's thoughts during battle, allowing for them to have incredible teamwork and fight as efficiently as possible as a team.

Lyle knew that this was another benefit that they had gained thanks to being vampiric servants, as all of them were connected via Lyle, they were able to understand each other and would know what the other person was going to do in the heat of the battle.

Lyle was pleasantly surprised to find yet another feature that was seemingly hidden from him by the system. He never thought that not only would the servants he created be able to gain some of his experience but that they could also work so well together with so little practice.

They were getting soul power incredibly quickly, one of the reasons was because they were all quite strong and had great gear, but the other reason was the teamwork and how they were able to pick apart groups of monsters. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Olman's ability shined in group battles as he was able to easily target the weak points of the enemy while at the same time making sure that his teammates were safe. Wan's proficiency with the curved sword was actually quite decent and came as another pleasant surprise to Lyle who thought both of the men were just decent at using their respective weapons, but they were both incredibly good with them.

Adam still mostly used his [ Mana Blast ] ability, but he was starting to use the [ Infernal Flames ] as well, but mostly as a support ability since its level and power were still relatively low and it was unable to help out much with Bronze Core monsters, at least when it came to inflicting injuries.

Still, neither Adam nor Lyle was disappointed by that as they had both seen the bear use the ability and knew just how powerful it could get in the future. The ability to spew out flames that would freeze an enemy was something that would come quite in handy during battles, especially since they would be able to catch an enemy off guard with it.

If one was to think of Adam's flames as normal ones and attempt to force his way through them, one would be faced with the unpleasant revelation that the flames had dropped the temperature by quite a bit and that parts of their body had been frozen.

As for the organization, thanks to the money that Lyle possessed, Olman was able to quickly start with its creation. They bought an abandoned factory that was a bit further away from Lyle's house and started doing work on it.

The factory was not the headquarters, however. It was not hidden at all and people would find out relatively quickly about it, no, it was actually supposed to act as a fake.

The factory would be where the low-tier members of the organization would go in order to get missions and to group together while the true headquarters would be hidden and only those that had managed to do well would gain access to it.

Of course, they had no need for it currently as the organization had just started. They still had no members, but after a week had passed, the factory was finished and Olman had started recruiting members together with Wan who would always change into a different person when recruiting members, making them believe that the organization they were going to join was one that had many Bronze Knights in it.

Adam was also a part of the recruitment, but he was a complete newbie when it came to these things, so his success at recruiting members was not nearly as high as the other two's.

As for Lyle, he was spending his time studying poisons from the things that were left by Ilya. He had also purchased a couple of other books that would allow him to gain insight into the art of poison-making.

The books were for beginners, and Lyle had of course used illegal channels to get them, using his identity as an assassin and their huge network that allowed him to get almost anything he wished for.

The beginner-level book of poisons had allowed him to get knowledge about poisons, how they worked, and how to identify them, but not how to make them. Ilya's notes were helpful, but they were obviously made for those that were already very proficient at making poisons, so Lyle needed to buy the books that would dumb things down for him.

After studying for over a week, Lyle possessed enough knowledge to try and make a poison, but his proficiency was low and it was still quite challenging for him to make one, very often resulting in the concoction he had created being useless and him throwing it away.

Making poisons wasn't something that was easy to be done, and it would take Lyle' who already gained a lot of knowledge, and a lot of trial and error before slowly progressing.

The book he gained from the system was not a normal one and it allowed him to pretty much memorize it after only reading it once. It was gone after he had finished reading it, turning into motes of light that flew in the air before disappearing.

If he could get some more of those kinds of books, then Lyle was certain that he could make poisons that were effective even against Silver Knights in only about a month, but of course, that was nearly impossible.

That one mission was the only one that the system had given him, and even now, he was confused as to how it happened or when the system would give missions to people.

Adam and the others had not been given any kind of mission till now, but he had heard of people getting them from the information he brought on the black market.

As for the untimely passing of Lordic and the Holad family, the Rain family and the Holad family's retainers had done everything they could, but even after a week, they had no clues as to who had done it.

The disappearance of all the members of Morn's organization was another mystery that they were not able to answer. There was the possibility that whoever had given Morn the poison had killed them all before getting to Morn in his mansion, but there was also the chance that it was a cleanup job that was made in order to not tie the person back to the murder.

Those in charge of investigating the murder were still trying their hardest, but even the experts that the Rain family had called over from the other cities in the empire were stumped and couldn't find a single clue from what had remained of the poisonous cloud and the remains of those killed by it.

Lyle had intentionally used a poison that was custom-made by Ilya, one that nobody else had knowledge about. It was one that the magister had used earlier in his life, back when he was a Golden Knight, and thanks to the poison not leaving any clues, and the fact that Ilya had always made sure to clean up after him and also destroy the corpse, it was impossible for anyone to know anything about it.

After 10 days had passed, however, a carriage carrying the emblem of the Rain family entered the city.
