Chapter 417: Chapter 417: Medusa's Betrayal, The Tower of Death
Chapter 417: Chapter 417: Medusa's Betrayal, The Tower of Death
"It's coming!" Medusa swallowed nervously, her expression serious as she fixed her gaze on the underground passage.
"Medusa, you filthy reptile, how dare you show up in my Dark City!" A cold voice echoed, reverberating through the space.
On the other side of the iron net, a figure appeared-an ominous man dressed in a black robe. The oversized cloak concealed his entire body, and a malevolent aura surrounded him.
It was Senren, the Lord of Dark City, at the peak of nine-star cultivation.
"Filthy?" Medusa furrowed her brow and stared directly at Senren. "At least I'm not someone who spends their life in the sewers."
"Hmph!" Senren sneered disdainfully, and from across the iron net, he spoke, "You're here to find the crown."
"Indeed, it's in your hands! How about we make a deal?" Medusa looked at him coolly.
"Oh? What kind of deal?" Senren raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued.
Medusa continued, "I know you're capturing a human. I've already helped them infiltrate Dark City. I'll bring them to you in exchange for the crown."
"They've arrived in Dark City?" Senren frowned, his expression skeptical.
He had already sent people into Forest King's territory. The latest report indicated that Sini had been captured and was being brought back.
Medusa didn't appear to be lying, and she certainly had the ability to carry out such a plan. It must be another human.
Senren's interest was piqued. He extended his hand toward the iron net, speaking, "Fine." Medusa eyed the withered, gray hand for a moment before hesitantly shaking it. "It's a deal." She was about to retract her hand when Senren gripped it tightly.
Senren warned coldly, "Medusa, let me remind you-if you try to deceive me, I will make your life a living hell."
"Hmph, do you think I'm as shameless as you?" Medusa snorted and forcefully pulled her hand away, swiftly exiting the underground passage.
Senren's voice echoed behind her. "I'll send someone to assist you."
Medusa didn't respond.
"Tsk, tsk, interesting," Senren mused, watching her disappearing figure. He let out a sinister laugh, and his form dissolved into a cloud of black mist, vanishing into thin air.
...
John and his group continued to wander through Dark City, gathering information about the Tower of Death.
They had discreetly inquired from many people and eventually confirmed one thing.
The Tower of Death was something like a World-in-Hand-an existence that only Senren could control.
If they wanted to enter it, they would have no choice but to confront Senren directly. "Kid, what should we do now?" Sword Demon asked, his voice a bit more serious than usual.
He was fearless when it came to most things, but the prospect of facing Senren left him feeling uncertain.
He had already learned that Senren was incredibly powerful, reportedly at the peak of the nine-star level, even more terrifying than Forest King.
The few of them were absolutely no match for him.
John was also in a dilemma. The most troublesome issue was that he couldn't confirm whether Jean and Nature God were being held in the Tower of Death.
He also wasn't sure if provoking Senren would lead them straight into the Tower of Death.
The group stood atop a pile of rubble, gazing ahead at a dilapidated high-rise. It was heavily guarded, and Senren was located there.
John pondered for a long time before speaking. "I'll try to figure out if I can sneak into Senren's residence."
He possessed a god-level disguise talent, and over the past few days, he had hunted down several Black Magicians.
With his current strength, he could disguise himself as a seven-star Black Magician. As long as he was careful, he shouldn't be discovered.
Black Magicians were not like the residents here; they held a high status, much like the city's guards, and could move freely in and out of most areas.
Boom!
Suddenly, a sharp sound pierced the air, followed by a loud explosion. The group was thrown back, and a swarm of Black-robed figures charged toward them.
"It's the Black Magicians. How did they find us so quickly?" Cand-Dragon said, panicking.
They had just wiped out a legion of Black Magicians and had hidden here. There was no reason they should have been found so fast.
"Breakthrough!" Sword Demon said dismissively, drawing his long sword and preparing to
strike.
These Black Magicians, mostly at the seven- and eight-star level, were no match for them.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a golden ring of light flashed, surrounding them. It quickly shrank and closed in on them.
"Huh? It's a formation. Damn, it's Medusa's skill!" John's expression changed as he recognized the technique.
He had witnessed the power and eerie nature of this skill before. Once trapped, there was no
way out.
He immediately attempted to break free, but it was already too late.

The golden ring rapidly shrank and split into three separate sections, trapping John and his two companions. Even the energy within their bodies was sealed off.
The army of Black Magicians rushed forward in a swarm and quickly subdued the three of
them.
From behind, a man in protective armor slowly approached.
It was Medusa.
Sword Demon, furious, cursed, "Damn you, Medusa! I knew I couldn't trust you! You bastard, you're in cahoots with Senren!"
Medusa heard Sword Demon's curse and frowned. Coldly, she said, "Kid, don't think just because you have Great Bear backing you, I won't dare to touch you. Watch your mouth!"
Sword Demon sneered, his anger flaring. "If you have the guts, kill me then. You cowardly, despicable little sneak."
"Seeking death!" Medusa's expression hardened, and a golden, sharp light shot out at him.
Puff!
The golden light instantly tore through Sword Demon's protective suit, and blood began to pour from the wound.
"Medusa, you can't harm these people," a Black Magician stepped forward, coldly stopping
her.
"Hmph!" Medusa snorted, her temper flaring, but she reluctantly withdrew. She grabbed hold of John and the others, deeming her task complete.
"Let's go." The Black Magicians then began to escort them toward the dilapidated high-rise. "Godslayer, what should we do now?" Cand-Dragon asked in fear, trying to break free from the golden light circle. After several failed attempts, it was clear there was no way out.
John furrowed his brows, speaking softly. "We'll take it one step at a time."
Now that they had fallen into their hands, he could do nothing but wait.
He turned his gaze toward Sword Demon, who was pale, and asked worriedly, "Are you
alright?"
Sword Demon slightly shook his head and whispered, "I know why Medusa had us wear these protective suits. The air here is toxic, but it's not fatal."
Toxic air? John looked at the grayish dust floating in the air, deep in thought.
The Black Magicians weren't wearing protective suits, and they didn't appear to be any different from ordinary people, with no visible mechanical enhancements.
He decided not to dwell on this issue further.
They were escorted into the slightly worn-down building.
The walls were charred, and there were marks from explosions, as if a battle had taken place
not long ago.
John didn't think much about it and followed the Black Magicians as they led them not to the
top of the building but down into the underground.
The space was vast and had a different atmosphere, but it was still dim and oppressive.
The group stopped in front of an underground palace.
"Keep an eye on them. I'll report to the master," the lead Black Magician said before entering
the hall.
John and his group waited outside, curious about who Senren truly was.
While he might not be a match for S enren, John was not afraid of him.
With his Lifesaver and Undying and Immortal talents, they could not kill him. Not long after, the Black Magician reappeared. He waved his hand toward his subordinates and spoke, "Directly throw them into the Tower of Death."
"Yes!" The two Black Magicians began escorting John and the others toward another direction
in the underground palace.
It turned out that the Tower of Death was also underground.
John's group brightened at the sight.
They hadn't expected to gain access to the Tower of Death so easily, but they still didn't know
if Jean and Nature God were being held here.
The group was escorted to a deep underground passage.
"Go in," two Black Magicians roughly shoved them forward. "Bastards, at least remove these restraints!" Sword Demon cursed loudly.
The golden ring was eerie, sealing off most of their internal power, making it impossible to
break free.
However, they weren't too worried. In three days, the golden ring would automatically lift.
The only concern was whether there would be any danger in the Tower of Death.
Bang, bang... They tumbled down the stairs, rolling endlessly downward, until they finally hit the ground
after a long fall.
"Dammit. Once I get out of here, I'm going to tear that Medusa apart," Sword Demon
groaned, feeling as if his body was falling apart. He lay on the ground, cursing in pain.
"Huh? This place seems different from outside. No need for a protective shield," he noticed, taking a deep breath, feeling no discomfort.
Though the area was still dimly lit and filled with the oppressive presence of dark power,
there was none of the evil or corrosive aura they had expected.
John also noticed this. The Tower of Death was an entirely different world from the City of
Darkness.
"Huh, finally some new faces."
"And two more humans."
Gulch "It's been so long since I've had fresh meat."
...
Excited voices echoed through the darkness, followed by a burst of flame that lit up the
surroundings.
John and the others were startled as a large group of monsters surged forward.
The two leaders were both at the peak of the eight-star level.
One had wings on their back and two feet on their head, dressed in a Five-Colored Celestial
Robe, a seductive and enchanting woman.
The other was a hulking figure, wielding a broad sword, with a full set of black heavy armor
concealing their face.
An Abyss Banshee and a Death Knight.
Their followers were a mix of seven-star and eight-star demons and monsters, surrounding John and his companions with excited anticipation.
A few of them even stuck out their tongues and licked John's body.
This made his skin crawl, and he almost wished he could tear through the golden ring and
shred these creatures apart.
"Damn, these three little ones seem to be trapped. They're not even struggling. How boring,"
one of them noticed the golden rings on their bodies and pulled at it, but it had no effect. "Who cares? Just swallow them," a large-headed magical beast said. Its massive head made up half of its body, and it opened its gaping mouth, large enough to swallow all three of them
in one go. It seemed eager to do so.
"Stop!" A loud shout rang out, and the noisy crowd immediately quieted down. The creatures
shrank back into the corners.
A fiery red figure flickered in mid-air before slowly descending.
"A nine-star powerhouse!" John's expression changed slightly. There was actually a nine-star monster imprisoned here.
