Natural Disaster: I Started By Hoarding Tens Of Billions Of Supplies

Chapter 223: Locust Plague

Chapter 223: Locust Plague

After the last upgrade of Yao Ran space, the farmland's time flow accelerated, reducing the growth period for medicinal herbs and crops. This change enabled Yao Ran to provide enough medicine to the army and survivors.

With Sima Yun's help, Yao Ran managed to get some antiques and gold by selling medicine and disinfectant.

After the parasitic infection ended, Yao Ran decided to stop selling medicines and

disinfectants. She now stays at home every day, takes care of crops and animals in her own space, and trains her abilities.

The next day, Yao Ran was awakened by a loud noise outside. It sounded like thousands of flies swarming above the building. The buzzing sounds gave her a headache and a sense of foreboding.

Getting up from her bamboo cot, Yao Ran went to the window and opened the curtain slightly. Noticing it was still dark outside, she opened it wider and took out her night vision binoculars.

Looking through the binoculars, Yao Ran scanned the area but couldn't find the source of the buzzing sounds. Just as she was about to find Long Yu and ask if he knew the cause, she saw something in the distance.

On the horizon, a black cloud seemed to be drawing closer. As far as she knew, the acid rain wouldn't arrive for months. Yao Ran frowned slightly, adjusted the binoculars for a better look, and looked at the black cloud.

At first, she thought it was an approaching acid rain cloud. However, as she zoomed in, she realized that it was not a cloud, and her pupils shrunk in surprise.

She quickly picked up her walkie-talkie and said, "Everyone, wake up! The locusts are coming! Close all doors and windows, and check the ventilation!"

A few seconds after sending the warning, Long Yu's voice came from the walkie-talkie, "Roger that."

Shi Xuan's hoarse voice soon followed, "Got it."

After warning her friends, Yao Ran raised her binoculars again and looked into the distance. Wherever the locusts passed, everything edible disappeared.

As she watched the locusts closing in, sirens began blaring from outside.

Wung- Wung- Wung-

A few seconds later, she heard the new building manager shouting through a megaphone, "The locusts are coming! Close all doors and windows! Wake up! The Locust are coming!"

The building manager repeated the words, but the buzzing sounds were too loud, drowning out his voice. He shouted a few more times and quickly closed the window.

Although the residents of other buildings could not clearly hear his warning, the people living in Building 3 woke up and heard it.

Everyone who had survived until now was highly vigilant. The moment the building manager's warning went out, people hurriedly shut their windows and doors and then drew their curtains to keep any locusts from entering.

A few minutes later, the locusts arrived in Juncheng City. Yao Ran watched as the sky darkened, with millions of locusts blocking out the rising sun and consuming everything in their path.

When the locusts reached the Ling Yuan apartment complex, they hit the windows like bullets.

Yao Ran watched them collide with the tempered glass outside her balcony and took a closer look. The locusts were twice the size of ordinary ones but otherwise looked the same, except for sharper fangs.

While she observed them, she suddenly heard the sound of shattering glass, followed by screams from downstairs.

Crash!

"Ah! Kill them! Hurry up!"

"Ouch! It bites me!"

"Quick! Close the door! Hurry up!"

Screams and shouts came from all directions, showing how unprepared everyone was.

The locusts obscured her view, so Yao Ran picked up her walkie-talkie and asked, "Guys, does anyone know what is happening down there?"

After a moment, Long Yu's voice came through. "I just spoke with Quan Yuanwei. He said the locusts broke through the windows and are attacking the survivors."

Yao Ran fell into silence, realizing there wasn't much she could do. She looked at the giant locusts hitting the tempered glass and said, "Understood."

The sudden arrival of the locust plague shocked the military, the survivors, and even Yao Ran herself.

In her previous life, she had spent four years in Haicheng City before traveling around the country to do missions with her teammates.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

As far as she remembered, there had never been a locust plague in Juncheng City. It seemed the course of natural disasters had really changed, and she could no longer rely on her past life

experiences.

The locusts had covered her windows and blocked her view, so Yao Ran went into her space to take a bath and have breakfast.

Once she was done, she left the space and went to tend to the cold-resistant potatoes in the planting room. Seeing that all of them had matured, she harvested them and put them into sacks.

She then went to her bedroom, took the walkie-talkie, and said, "Everyone, I just harvested the cold-resistant potatoes. Please come and get them."

A few seconds later, Huang Qian's excited voice came through the walkie-talkie. "Really? We will be there shortly."

Yao Ran put down the walkie-talkie, put on her protective clothing, and left her apartment to check the situation outside.

When she stepped out of her apartment, she was surprised to see not a single locust in the corridor. She removed the helmet of her protective clothing and checked the metal doors and

windows.

Seeing that the gaps around the windows and doors had been sealed, she knew Long Yu and the others had taken precautions. Just as she was inspecting the windows for cracks, the doors to units 2001 and 2002 opened.

Long Yu saw her looking out the windows and walked over, followed by the others.

Seeing them approaching, Yao Ran said, "I have divided the potatoes. Please come with me."

After saying this, she led them back to her apartment.

Walking into her apartment, Long Yu noticed twelve sacks of potatoes in her living room and asked, "Ran Ran, you only divided them into six portions?"
