Chapter 36: A Moment, Whole
In this frozen stat, I felt so empty, like a fragile vessel that could create a horrible melody when struck with an instrument.
Emotionless, might the apt word.
Before I knew it, I was already in a different place.
A white yet serene place, with a pair of humans, a man and a woman.
For some reason, I couldn't fully comprehend their facial features and physicality.
All I could only comprehend was the color of gold and black that each of them represent.
And the emotion and gesture that they were expressing.
"I can't believe that I'm going to have a daughter…" the teary man said, representing the color of black in this empty white world.
"Out of all the things we went through, this is the thing you can't believe in?" the smug woman chuckled, representing the color of gold.
"I think we should name her now."
"And, do you have any idea yet?"
"You're underestimating me, Elisi." The man awkwardly yet pridefully puffed his chest. "I got to my current position not because I'm dumb, remember?"
"Uuh, wow. Yes, my husband is so smart~"
"Now you're just capitalizing it."
"Yaria, my dear, out of all the things that make you sulk, are they not the blasphemy and hurtful words that they said to you, but mine?"
"You're the only thing that I care about in this world, Elisi."
"Aww, Yaria~"
Lovey-dovey much…?
I really had no comment about this pair of lovebirds, since I didn't really find the concept of relationship outside of familial bond that much important.
The man's name appeared to be Yaria, while the woman seemed to be Elisi.
I tried to make a heavy connection between their names, and maybe they were someone that I met in the past? This whole vision must have a meaning…
Then again, for some reason, watching these two bickering playfully like that with one another, somewhat gave me a reassurance for my own progress in life.
If I was still alive at this point, of course.
"If we're about to assume that our daughter will have the same gold-colored hair like me, then it might be fitting to name it after our favorite flower that blooms in spring, no?" Elisi suggested with a warm confidence.
"Are you sure that it won't just get the color of my hair instead?" Yaria replied with a snickering sigh.
"Nah, it's going to be the color of my hair. Only then, she will be the most beautiful of them all, outside of her mother."
"Ahaha, that's true." Yaria started to get closer. "Regardless of her soul and appearance, naming her after our favorite flower will show the proof of her significance to us."
"It is decided then!" Elisi started to happily rub her belly. "Your name from now on will be Daffodil, little one. The proof of our new beginnings, hope, and beautiful joy."
Daffodil.
Also known by their botanical name 'narcissus'.
The flowers of this kind are easy and reliable spring-flowering bulbs. They multiply quickly and return to bloom again each spring, year after year. They are not fussy about soil, will grow in sun or part shade and are not bothered by deer, rabbits and other pesky critters.
A strong yet calming flower that stood on its ground.
"I hope you become strong and beautiful for us, Daffodil."
A heartwarming vision about two soon-to-be parents and their child.
There were rather some interesting coincidences with the current name that I have.
Then again, it was most likely to be a mere coincidence, since the name 'Narcissus' that I bore possessed a different meaning than that of 'Narcissus'.
Not to mention, it wasn't actually 'Narcissus' but 'Daffodil'.
If the name of the body that I inhabited was actually 'Daffodil', then the detail screen would show it as such.
After a much more heartwarming back-and-forth between Yaria and Elisi about their child, the vision seemed to throw its curtain.
Everything started to dim into black, signifying the ending session of this peculiar vision.
Or that was what I thought.
What I thought to be the end was only the start of another vision.
And it seemed like it was still about those two. However, the background and setting were much clearer?
This time, the vision gave me a story about Elisi and Yaria while they were sitting next to each other inside a moving caravan.
They were discussing their plan to settle in a place and create a family, so this should be the timeline before the vision that I saw before?
Though for some reason, their way of speaking and mannerism greatly differ from the last, almost as if they were an entirely different pair of people.
Yaria was much more calm and composed, much like a seasoned fighter.
And Elisi looked like a kind and soft-spoken lady from a great family.
I wouldn't immediately notice that it was them if it weren't for the strong color they represent.
Especially since the other people in this story gave the same incomprehensible silhouette to me.
After this vision ended, it started with another one.
And another.
And another.
All of those visions were about Yaria and Elisi, but as if they were in different worlds and timeline, and different backgrounds and stories.
