Chapter 1218  Behind the Scenes (2)

Within the Mystic Plane.

Whoosh!

"It's been a while since I last came here." Taking note of the faint layer of iridescent energy that covered everywhere he laid his eyes upon, a faint smile hung on Valyr's face as he felt a bit of nostalgia.

Although not a lot of time had passed after he left the Mystic Plane in the grand scheme of things, over a month and a half had already passed since he paid a visit to the Meltierre Empire to visit Mystia.

Of course, that visit was more than fruitful, not only allowing him to become Mystia's third disciple, but also allowed him to become the Guardian of the Mystic Plane. At the same time, he improved his control over Mystic Energy by leaps and bounds while also learning both alchemy and Mystic Rune Alchemy from none other than the Imperial Alchemist herself.

Naturally, the time he spent after leaving the Mystic Plane was also fruitful, ranging from his proposal at the War Forge Assembly, to the time he spent accruing reputation as a renowned fighter at the frontlines, to the time his renown reached greater heights thanks to the tournament.

"Now, where is Mystia?" Letting out a faint sigh as he was finished reminiscing over the things he'd gone through, Valyr looked around his surroundings once more in the hopes of getting a trace of Mystia's whereabouts.

After all, the main reason why he returned to the Mystic Plane wasn't because he wanted to further his prowess in the realm of Mystic Energy. It was purely to ask if Mystia had a way to contact Riekan.

As the Imperial Alchemist of the Meltierre Heavenly Court, surely she'd have a way to contact someone as renowned as him, right?

Whoosh!

"Well, well, well. Look who decided to show up in the Mystic Plane."

Just as Valyr was about to resign himself to picking a random direction before heading there at the fastest speed he could muster, a familiar being appeared in front of him, looking at him with crossed arms.

"Long time no see, Marcus." Of course, it went without saying that the young man was more than glad to see the man, especially since he knew the man would be able to lead him to where Mystia was.

Though, when he heard the words that came out of Marcus' mouth, such thoughts were tossed to the side for the meantime as he looked at him with a slightly apologetic smile. "Also, sorry for not being able to come back sooner."

"Nine months have passed here since you last stepped foot in this place," said Marcus in response to his apology, a slight frown adorning his face. "As the Guardian of the Mystic Plane, shouldn't you have at least made a conscious effort to come by this place every once in a while?"

At those words, Valyr subconsciously began to look at the ground, feeling a hint of shame and guilt as he thought about the meaning that lied beneath the man's words.

Accompanied by the slight pressure that Marcus gave off due to him being the Overseer of the plane, it was no surprise that the young man remained silent after that, knowing that Marcus was right to berate him for not doing his job right.

"…Eh?" However, rather than to continue to berate Valyr for not being a proper guardian for the Mystic Plane, Marcus instead stopped the moment he felt the air around the young man change. "Did I…"

"Did I go too far?"

Hearing that, a bit of the guilt Valyr felt disappeared as he slowly turned to look at the man in confusion, only to be greeted by the latter feeling a bit of guilt himself.

"Mystia did say he wasn't the type of guy to be into that kind of humor," mumbled Marcus to himself. "But I should try it out on him at least once, right?"

Realizing what was actually going on thanks to the man's faint murmurs, a great portion of the shame and guilt Valyr felt instantly disappeared, instead being replaced with a hint of rage as he asked him.

"You know… have you ever thought about asking me first before actually trying it out?"

Hearing those words, Marcus paused his current train of thought before slowly gazing back to look at Valyr, whose eyes were brimming with rage.

"I… I can explain…" Feeling the aura surrounding the young man become more and more intimidating by the second, the man hurriedly explained himself, hoping that the young man would show even a bit of mercy in what he'd do next.

Unfortunately for him, Valyr happened to be finding an outlet for his pent-up stress for quite some time.

"So, what brought you to the Mystic Plane all of a sudden?" n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Briefly glancing at an immensely bruised and battered Marcus, Mystia soon shifted her gaze towards Valyr as she looked at him with a slightly raised eyebrow.

"Does it perhaps have something to do with the tincture you gave me?"

"No." Valyr shook his head, only to then scratch the back of his head as he pondered over the best way to phrase his request. "Instead, I want to ask for a favor."

Seeing Mystia fully raise her eyebrow in response, the young man quickly got to explaining. "I was wondering if you had any way to contact Riekan from the Caemelio clan. The two of you talked to one another back at the tournament while I was around, after all."

"…I do have a way to contact him," replied Mystia after a bit of pondering. "However, why do you need to contact him?"

"Well, it's a slightly long story," said Valyr, giving both Mystia and Marcus a brief explanation of what happened in the tournament, as well as what he was going through at the moment.

By the time he was done, the two looked at each other for a bit before looking back at Valyr with a slight frown.

"He really wants you to solve his clan's problems just for a measly accessory upgrade?" said Mystia, her impressions of the renowned accessory maker slightly falling in her mind.

"It's mostly my speculation for now," clarified Valyr as he slightly shrugged his shoulders. "But at the very least, I'm sure I have to do something related to it in exchange for the upgrade I'm getting."

"…Well, it wouldn't make sense for him to do the upgrade for nothing, anyway." Hearing those words, Mystia could only let out a faint sigh. "I'll send a message to him to meet up with you as soon as possible, then."

"Thank you," said Valyr in response with a smile, deciding to try and attempt making contact with Riekan from his side as well.

With that, he sent a couple of messages to Braum briefly explaining the situation, only to then ask him soon after if there was any way to contact the man if possible.

Unsurprisingly, as the well-renowned informant that he was, the young man soon received a response from him that he'd try to get a hold of Riekan as soon as possible.

Seeing as there was nothing else he needed to do within the Mystic Plane, Valyr went ahead and conjured a rift back to where he previously stood, much to the disappointment Marcus felt.

Whoosh!

"I suppose I should start finding out more information on the nine factions in detail." Stepping foot in the Caemelio clan's guest area once more, the young man had already formulated a rough plan of what he was going to do next.

"Taking into consideration of the worst-case scenario, I'll probably be here for over a day at the very least, if not more."

"…Man." Valyr let out a sigh by the time he was done mulling over his plan. "It would've been better if Riekan was here."

"…You called?"
