Chapter 70 Conspiracy [ Bonus Chapter ]
Seraphine's eyes widened in astonishment as she gazed at her father.
"If the founding king was above the Tier 9 Forbidden Realm, does that mean he was a..?"
Lucien interrupted with a smile, " A Saint, yes, the founding king was at the Saint Realm, a Knight with destructive power. But he was easily killed by a dragon with just a sneeze. The dragon was sealed, yet it managed to take down a powerhouse like the founding king."
Taking a deep breath, Seraphine inquired, "How do you know all this? It happened thousands of years ago, right?"
"The Patriarch of the main family was part of the raid, so most of the higher-ups in the Clans know about it. Your grandfather told me," Lucien explained.
Confused, Seraphine asked, "If there's a dragon in the Dragonskull Dungeon, why are the clans trying to get in? Aren't they afraid of being killed by the dragon?"
"They're not after the dragon itself," Lucien shook his head. "They're looking for the core."
"What core?" Seraphine pressed.
"The Saint Core dropped by the founding king after he was killed by the dragon," Lucien revealed.
"Wait, Mana Cultivators have cores too?" Seraphine was now completely puzzled.
"Yes, when one reaches the Tier 9 Forbidden Realm and wants to advance to the Saint Realm, they must form a core. It's extremely difficult, but once you become a Saint, even Tier 9 Forbidden Realm experts are nothing compared to you," Lucien explained.
"Ah, I see," Seraphine finally understood. "So the founding king's Saint Core is like a shortcut to becoming a Saint. That's why all those powerful clans in the Kingdom are so interested in Bridgemoor City."
"Yeah, every clan is competing for that Saint Core. If any clan gets it, they'll be the ruler of Avalonia Kingdom. The other clans will have to surrender or be wiped out," Lucien said solemnly.
Seraphine's expression was grim as she looked at her father and asked, "But father, if they're after the Saint Core, won't the dragon kill them? I mean, the Saint Core might be in the dragon's possession, right?"
Lucien nodded and replied, "That has already been taken into consideration. After years of trying to raid the Dragonskull Dungeon, we've realized that every ten years, the dragon is weakened for some mysterious reason. That's when each clan sends their forces to try and get the Saint Core. But every time, we come back empty-handed and suffer greatly in the process."
Seraphine listened intently to Lucien Netherfrost.
"And you know that every ten years, the dungeon breaks, releasing monsters from various Silver Rank and Bronze Rank dungeons. There's also the Magical Beasts tide, where Tier 1 to Tier 3 Magical Beasts attack the twelve cities around Atmos Forest," Lucien continued, looking at Seraphine.
"That's why I called you back - to help defend Bridgemoor City while I and some clan experts raid the Dragonskull Dungeon."
"Father, you mean the ten-year period has arrived?" Seraphine asked.
"Yes, it has. It's just a few months away, and it will be a period of disaster for the people living in the twelve cities around Atmos Forest," Lucien confirmed.
Seraphine nodded in understanding.
"During this time, you must quickly increase your strength so you can safely command and protect Bridgemoor City. Otherwise, our Netherfrost Clan will really suffer," Lucien said with a serious expression.
Seraphine nodded solemnly.
"But if the founding king was a Saint Realm Cultivator, why is the Avalonia Kingdom so weak now? It's even considered the weakest among the surrounding Kingdoms," Seraphine asked, puzzled.
"You see, when the founding king was alive, the Avalonia Kingdom was not called the Avalonia Kingdom. Instead, it was known as the Avalonia Empire because the founding king was a Saint. However, after the founding king passed away, the empire became extremely vulnerable. The surrounding Kingdoms seized the opportunity to invade, taking over many territories.
At that time, the Royal Family was caught up in a civil war, each member vying for the throne and neglecting the external threats," Lucien explained.
"It was the previous king who managed to end the civil war within the Royal Family. He eliminated many members before ascending to the throne and rallying the Kingdom's strength to push back the invading Kingdoms. Unfortunately, it was too late, and the Avalonia Empire had already suffered greatly.
Without the support of a Saint, the empire fell from an Empire to a Kingdom, becoming the weakest among its neighbors," Lucien continued.
Seraphine shook her head, feeling sorry for the Kingdom's plight.
Lucien sneered with disdain in his eyes . "Instead of them coming together to strengthen and make thr Kingdom strong again, those arrogant fools are still fighting amongst themselves for the throne. They're fucking stupid," he remarked.
"Let's not dwell on this any longer," Lucien sighed, waving his hand dismissively.
Turning to Seraphine, he said, "Now that you know the secret of Brigdemoor City, I hope you understand the importance of keeping it to yourself. Only a few top clans in the Kingdom are aware of this secret. That's why I told you earlier that If this secret was to be revealed, you can predict the results yourself."
"Understood Father "Seraphine nodded in agreement, his expression serious.
Seraphine was well aware of the gravity of the situation if the secret of Brigdemoor City were to be exposed and the surrounding Kingdoms caught wind of it.
War and bloodshed would surely follow, leading to the destruction of the Avalonia Kingdom.
It wasn't just the other Kingdoms that posed a threat - all Mana Cultivators and rogue Cultivators would swarm to Avalonia Kingdom, especially the ancient monsters stuck in the Tier 9 Forbidden Realm.
They would stop at nothing to obtain the coveted Saint Core, a treasure that could easily elevate them to the Saint Realm.
If this secret were to be revealed to the outside world, the Avalonia Kingdom would cease to exist, and millions of lives would be lost in the process.
Seraphine took a deep breath and looked at Lucien, " Father don't worry I won't tell anyone about this".
Good"Lucien nodded in approval with a smile.
"But I know that this secret won't stay in the dark for too long, nothing is absolute in this world so we must always be prepared "He said.
"I know father " Seraphine Netherfrost nodded."
But father if every clan is after the Saint Core then why is it that some of the clans are very much interested in Bridgemoor City, I mean Bridgemoor City is located in a remote corner of the Kingdom there is nothing worth on this city " Seraphine asked.
Lucien chuckled and explained," " Well my dear daughter you seemed to have forgotten something, you see Bridgemoor City might not be worth much but the Atmos Forest is.
There are a lot important resources in the Atmos Forest just the magic cores from the Magical Beasts are very valuable to Mana Cultivators and aside from that there are a lot of treasures and precious mines in the Atmos Forest, we the Netherfrost Clan being in charge of Brigdemoor City means we have the advantage of securing more resources than the other clans ".
"Oh, I understand now. That's why the Raventhorne Clan is so keen on opposing us, even though we are stronger than them," Seraphine nodded in understanding.
Lucien chuckled, "Who wouldn't be tempted by this large amount of treasures? The resources we get every year from the Atmos Forest could nurture a thousand Tier 2 Intermediate Knights. How can they not be tempted?"
"But they will only be dreaming if they think they can take Bridgemoor City from us," Lucien said, narrowing his eyes. Immediately, the entire hall was frozen in ice.

Meanwhile, thousands of kilometers away from Bridgemoor City, deep in a dark and eerie forest, a figure clad in a black cloak was swiftly moving between the huge trees. In just a few seconds, the figure was already hundreds of meters away.
After a few minutes, the figure stopped under a tree and stood there silently, as if waiting for something.
The surroundings were eerily quiet and extremely dark, with no sounds of insects or birds that are normally heard in a forest. The black cloaked figure stood motionless under the tree.
About half an hour later, another black cloaked figure appeared in front of the first figure.
"You're late," a hoarse voice sounded from the first figure.
"I had something to do, that's why I took so long," a lazy voice replied from the second figure. Read the full story on m-vl-em-py-r
After a moment of silence, the first figure asked, "Have you prepared what we discussed?"
"Don't worry, I've already taken care of everything. You just have to wait for the right time," the second figure assured.
"Good," the first figure said before disappearing.
The second figure fell silent, lost in thought.
After a few minutes, the figure looked in a certain direction and muttered, "Humans, what a bunch of greedy beings."
With that, the black cloaked figure also disappeared.
